The value chain strategy for optimizing the processof drilling and using longwall gateroads in hard coal mines

Abstract

The process of excavating roadways, also known as preparatory works, and then ensuring their stability throughout their lifetime, is a very important issue from the point of view of mining (extraction) operations. This article attempts to develop an optimal strategy for the preparatory works process in coal mines, based on the assumptions of the value chain model used by companies. The model developed is aimed not only at increasing competitive advantage due to a reduction in the cost of coal mining, but primarily at changing the mentality of employees and their approach to the work performed allowing for improved mining efficiency.
